Scheduling Templates
Build reusable schedule templates — an ordered critical path plus sub-path tasks — and use them to schedule a lot or a whole community in one step.
Overview
A schedule template is a reusable plan for building a lot: an ordered list of critical path tasks with their durations and stages, plus sub-path tasks that run in the gaps between them. Instead of adding dozens of tasks by hand on every lot, you build the template once and lay it down on a lot — or across a whole community — in one step. Project managers and builder admins create and maintain templates on the Schedule Templates page.
Create a template from scratch, or duplicate an existing one as a starting point.
Sequence critical path tasks and place sub-path tasks between them.
Set the template's duration, mark pay points, and assign stages.
Schedule a lot from the template, or many lots at once with Batch schedule.
Getting to the Schedule Templates page
Open Schedule in the navigation.
Click Schedule templates.
How to create a template
On the Schedule Templates page, click Create.
Type a Template Name and click Create. The new, empty template opens in the editor.
On the Critical Path tab, click Add. Pick the Task, set its Days, choose a Stage, and confirm. Repeat for each task in build order — drag a row to reorder.
On the Subpath tab, click Add for any task that runs alongside the critical path. Pick the Task, its Days, and the critical path tasks it comes After and Before.
Tick Pay Point on any row that should create a pay point when scheduled.
Click Save Changes.
The Schedule Preview above the tables redraws as you edit, so you can check the shape of the schedule before you save. To rename the template, click the pencil next to its name, type the new name, and click the check mark.
How to duplicate a template
On the Schedule Templates page, open the ⋯ menu on the template and choose Duplicate.
Keep the suggested name (the original name followed by - Copy) or type a new one.
Click Duplicate. The copy opens in the editor with all of the original's tasks; the original is unchanged.
How to archive a template
On the Schedule Templates page, open the ⋯ menu on the template and choose Archive.
Confirm. The template disappears from the list.
How to use a template on a lot
Open Schedule → Overall timeline, right-click a day cell on the lot's row, and choose Schedule from template. (The same option is in the Tools menu on the lot's page.)
Pick the Schedule template and check the Date to start schedule from.
Choose a trade partner for each task that does not have one filled in already.
Click Schedule. The tasks are created on the lot with working-day dates, and a message tells you how many were created.
To schedule many lots in one pass, use Schedule → Batch schedule instead: pick a community, add and order the lots, choose the template and start date, preview the dates, and click Schedule.
